Government Relations
Your Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce works to be the voice of business within our community and to our elected representatives at all levels of government. We strive to be THE voice of business throughout the county, at the State House and in our Nation’s capitol. We work with the Indiana and U.S. Chambers of Commerce to make sure our federal representatives know how Muncie-Delaware County businesses feel about the laws they are considering.
What We Do
We attend meetings of the Muncie City Council, Delaware County Council and Delaware County Commissioners and when necessary, stand up for the rights of our member businesses. We also track legislation at the State level and, when called for, provide testimony to House and Senate Committees to make sure Muncie-Delaware County’s business voice is heard. You can always contact your Chamber to find out more.
Educating Members
Educating our members, and the community at large, is another way we strive to serve. It is the Chamber’s belief that a well informed population will be able to make better, more informed choices and decisions for the betterment of our community.
Whether the concern is public safety, transportation or the health and well-being of the community, we are engaged in the dialogue and stand ready to offer assistance to be sure we continue to move our community forward.
Government Activities and Legislation
Listed below are a few of the Government- and Legislative-related activities offered by your Chamber. Each year finds us adding new and different programs, which you can find on our Event Calendar.
Legislative Updates
Several times throughout the state legislative session, we invite our State Representatives and Senators to hold a question-and-answer forum in Muncie. This program allows interaction between our state legislators and the members of our community.
Legislative Dinner
Members are invited to travel to Indianapolis to have dinner with our State Legislators while the General Assembly is in session. This opportunity gives members the chance to let our legislators know what is important to the business community. Contact Brenda Brumfield for more information.
Other programs we offer to help in our mission include:
-
Legislative Update Sessions
-
State Legislative Dinners
-
Community Educational Forums
