Muncie-Delaware County Delegation to Visit Japan

Mayor Sharon McShurley, Terry Murphy, Vice President of Economic Development for the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance and Consultant Larry Ingraham, of the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research, will leave on a trade mission to Japan this week. While in Japan, meetings will be held with businesses, banks, trading firms and construction companies. This trip is part of the community's ongoing "Asian Initiative."

"By building long term partnerships in Japan, Korea and China we are increasing our ability to compete for their business investment in the United States," said Mayor McShurley. "We live in a global economy and if we are going to grow as a community we need to attract not only U.S. investment but investment from all over the world. Brevini, VAT, Magna, Miasa, and Keihin are examples of how we have been successful," added Todd Donati, President of the Delaware County Commissioners.

"These trips not only enable us to work on the attraction of new jobs and investment but it also affords us an opportunity to match Japanese businesses that could purchase the products and/or services of our local businesses. We were able to do so on our last trip," said Terry Murphy, Vice President, Economic Development for the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance.

The "Asian Initiative" is jointly funded by the Mayor of Muncie and the Delaware County Commissioners.
