Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance Receives Economic Development Award
Muncie, IN (September 19, 2007) - Acknowledging the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance for its Japanese promotional brochure, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presented its Special Purpose Brochure award to the Muncie, Indiana-based organization at IEDC's Annual Conference, which took place in Phoenix, Arizona, September 16-19. The organization was recognized for this achievement during an awards ceremony on Tuesday, September 18 2007.
"Economic development efforts have always played a vital role in shoring up the nation's economy, one locality at a time," said Ronnie L. Bryant, IEDC chairman. "As our population grows exponentially and as we continue to overcome challenges, both new and longstanding, these efforts have taken on an even greater importance. The award serves as a salute to pacesetting organizations like the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance for leading the charge."
Competing in the category of Special Purpose Brochure by organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance was a clear standout. The Vision 2011 Economic Development Alliance is a collaborative effort by all the cities and towns in the Muncie-Delaware County community to promote economic development. The Alliance provides "one-stop shopping" for businesses requesting assistance for retention, expansion, and location needs. Vision 2011 is the name of the community's new five-year economic development program. This public/private partnership represents the most comprehensive economic development plan in the history of the county. The program, which runs from 2006 through the end of 2011, has nine goals and objectives. The Japanese marketing brochure is part of the Vision 2011 economic development program's "Asian Initiative," which is focused on the recruitment and expansion of Japanese-owned businesses. The marketing effort includes the video, Japanese translated brochures and related print materials, business cards, travel trips to Japan to meet with businesses, consultants, and key government leaders (along with visits to their American counterparts).
