LOCAL OFFICIALS ATTEND WIND CONFERENCE

Muncie, Indiana (July 26, 2010) - Muncie-Delaware County officials attended the WIndiana 2010 Conference in Indianapolis last week. WIndiana, the only state-wide wind power conference, was attended by Muncie Mayor Sharon McShurley and Terry Murphy, Vice President, Economic Development for the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance. The conference offered wind companies, scientists, engineers and economists a forum to discuss major industry issues. This is the third year for the conference.

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman was the keynote luncheon speaker and cited Brevini and VAT as key “wins” for the State of Indiana. Brevini Wind sponsored the luncheon. Mursix Corporation and Townsend Corporation were other Delaware County-based businesses that had had trade show displays at the event.

The Wind Energy Manufacturing Association (WEMA) announced at the show that they will locate their corporate offices in downtown Muncie.

“It’s important that the city and county remain active in alternative energy opportunities and build on our successes,” said Mayor McShurley.

“Wind Energy offers a great opportunity to bring new, high paying jobs and capital investment to our community,” said Murphy. “Alternative energy is one of our targeted industry sectors and conferences like WIndiana enable us to stay abreast of industry trends and issues. Attending the conference provides opportunities to market our community as a great place to do business,” added Murphy.
