IBM Adds 175 Jobs at New Center in Delaware County

(September 26, 2011-Daleville, IN) IBM Corporation held a press conference today showcasing its new Business Process Center in Daleville. The center is located in the Heartland Business Center and has 175 new fully trained employees supporting the customers of a leading global electronics brand. "IBM opened its first center on Commerce Drive more than three years ago," said Kent Holcomb, IBM Senior State Executive. "Today's announcement is directly tied to the skill of our employees and superior customer service being delivered in Daleville."

For example, one of IBM's consumer electronics customers in Daleville has been recognized with the Call Center Excellence Award North America, ranking them as one of the top five companies in the country for consumer feedback. The award, sponsored by the International Quality and Productivity Center, is based on consumer satisfaction survey ratings. Since January, IBM’s work for a major health care provider has increased productivity by 38 percent while maintaining quality measurement at 99.6 percent for more than 160,000 clients.

The Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance, Delaware County Commissioners and Delaware County Redevelopment Commission have played key roles in creating the business environment that is central to this expansion. The Redevelopment Commission approved the use tax increment financing funds as an incentive to help bring the new jobs and investment to Daleville.

"This announcement is a reflection of the quality of our local workforce," said Terry Murphy, Vice President of Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance. "With the addition of these jobs, IBM is now one of the largest employers in our area."

According to IBM officials, the centers in Daleville are continually working to secure new business to support added expansion. The motto of the centers is Smart, Helpful and Valuable. Their commitment to customer service, efficiency, accountability and value has created a culture of excellence this has translated into meaningful business results and value for IBM Daleville's customers.

"We are excited to be here today and see the success IBM is having in Delaware County," said Todd Donati, President of the Delaware County Commissioners. "The Commissioners are dedicated to job growth and we are pleased to have played a role in bringing these jobs to our community.”

"This is a substantial expansion of an existing business and that is great news for Delaware County," said Jay Julian, President and CEO of the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce. "IBM's continued investment in our community shows their confidence that Delaware County is a community that allows the company to continue to grow and prosper."
