Alliance Participates in Regional Economic Development Sales trip to Chicago

(June 29, 2011 - Muncie, IN) Traci Lutton – Economic Development Project Manager, Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance, along with area economic development officials, planned and participated in a sales trip to Chicago, June 27-28. Local area economic development leaders from the Energize-ECI, Inc. region participating in the trip included: Rob Cleveland - Executive Director of the Blackford County Economic Development Corporation; Bob Grewe - Executive Director, New Castle – Henry County Economic Development Corporation; Tim Eckerle - Executive Director, Grant County Economic Growth Council; Bill Bradley - Executive Director, Jay County Development Corporation; and E. Roy Budd, of Energize-ECI, Inc.

“The goal of our Chicago trip was to familiarize leading site selection professionals based in Chicago about the many business advantages of expansion and relocation opportunities in East Central Indiana for their clients. It follows our previous semi-annual Energize-ECI, Inc. sales trips to Chicago – so we renewed established relationships,” Mr. Budd said. “We had appointments with members of key site selection consulting firms, who direct new location selection for corporations, plus we also met with officials of the Turkish Consulate General and the JETRO organization representing Japan. We find it effective to meet in person to point out the specific competitive advantages of our region as they relate to the company’s specific projects and answer questions. Having a group of economic development representatives participating from our nine counties impressed the consultants.”

“The meetings provided an excellent opportunity to gain insight on industry trends, and to learn what criteria site location consultants are currently considering when choosing communities for expansion or relocation projects,” Lutton added. “The ECI team received substantiation from a number of site selectors that Indiana is viewed favorably as an excellent location for investment. Through consistent sales trips and relationship building during the economic downturn, East Central Indiana is positioned for growth as corporate confidence grows and the number of projects increases.”
